To recognize exemplary contributions, inspire further dedication, and motivate all staff and students to engage more passionately in the core mission of seizing the commanding heights of science and technology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), in conjunction with the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, honored outstanding CAS teams and individuals on January 28. Fifteen teams were awarded the title CAS Advanced Team, and twenty individuals received the title CAS Advanced Individual. Among the honorees, Professor Jiang Jun from our laboratory was selected as a CAS Advanced Individual.

Professor Jiang Jun has long been dedicated to advancing intelligent chemistry research by integrating artificial intelligence and big data technologies. He has led the development of a machine scientist platform based on theory-experiment iterative learning, addressing practical challenges in the field of physical chemistry. He has also undertaken special tasks aimed at seizing strategic high ground in science and technology. Under his leadership, a data-intelligence-driven machine chemist platform was developed, integrating mobile robots, intelligent chemical workstations, high-throughput computing systems, and an intelligent chemical brain. This platform covers the entire research workflow—reading, thinking, creating, and validating—and has been widely applied in fields such as high-entropy materials, energy catalysts, flame-retardant materials, and luminescent molecules. It has improved R&D efficiency by two to five orders of magnitude. Internationally, it has been recognized as having the most advanced operating system, workstations, and intelligent chemical brain, surpassing platforms in Europe and the United States in terms of experimental efficiency and AI capabilities, thus pioneering a new paradigm of data-intelligence-driven scientific research.
The titles CAS Advanced Team and CAS Advanced Individual are jointly awarded by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and the Chinese Academy of Sciences. They aim to recognize teams and individuals who have made significant contributions to the reform, innovation, and development of CAS as well as to China's scientific and technological advancement. The selection is conducted once every five years. Since 2010, two faculty members from our university have received the title CAS Advanced Individual, two have been named CAS Advanced Worker, and one team has been honored as a CAS Advanced Team.
